When fitting it is essential that clearances are checked between the camshaft and cases initially and subsequently between the cam tunnels in the barrel.  On cylinder heads with 1.5” or larger dia inlet valves, a check should be made to ensure they do not clash with the exhausts.  It may require a 0.020 reduction in diameter or alternatively the seats sinking deeper.

Under no circumstances should the springs be packed tighter than 0.110” from coilbound.

It is recommended that the followers are ground to a 6” radius if using a 5 speed gearbox.

Set the camshaft to 0.225” (5.71mm) lift on the inlet valve top collars at T.D.C. using 0.016 valve clearances.

16 though gives best power, 10/12 gives quietest running for road use.

069200C - any Commando with points on the camshaft.

069200D - Dominator, Atlas or early Commando.

 Safe Riding.
